Corset Ordering Guide

  Corset Wearing and Lacing Guide

Lux Tenebrae Boutique
For all purchases from our Lux Tenebrae Boutique we will send a comprehensive measurement guide via E-mail.

How to order your corset
All of our corsets are made to order and sold in waist measurements as opposed to dress sizes from 18-44 inches and graduate in 2 inch increments.

How to measure yourself for a perfect fit
Your corset size should be approx 4 inches below your natural waist measurement. This bit is really important so no cheating here ladies or your corset may not be a perfect fit. Take the tape measure and measure around the fullest part of your waist; this will give you your natural waist size. Then deduct 4 inches from this to give you your correct corset size, this will allow for a 2 inch gap in the back or complete closure should you desire. So if the fullest part of your waist measures 34 inches then you'll be looking to order a 30 inch corset.

As a curvy woman myself I have a natural waist of 43 inches and wear a 36 inch corset. This leaves me a respectable laced gap at the back of about 2 to 3 inches with the option to reduce even more depending on where I am going and how long I plan to wear the corset. It is all a matter of personal choice and I have been wearing corsets for quite sometime so am used to tight lacing. A 4 inch reduction from your natural waist is perfectly acceptable.

We can offer a made-to-measure service on all our standard corsetry which carries an additional charge of £30.

How to wear
I have a partner who loves to lace me in so if you have the same show them this guide and you can relax while you are being laced in!

Lacing
Your corset will normally arrive fully laced but if not here's one way to do it:

With the corset face down take your lace (it only needs one) and starting at the top 2 holes lace through from inside of the corset outwards , pulling the lace through in equal lengths.. Then it's like lacing shoes, criss-crossing the lace from the top down towards the bottom.

When you reach the middle of the corset, counting from the top holes down, take the left lace and go into the hole underneath. This will give your the waist loops. Repeat on the right hand side.

Now make sure the ends of the laces cross over and continue lacing as before from the centre to the bottom.

Depending on the number of holes you may end up with the ends of the laces on the inside or outside of the final holes. You can either knot them off like shown or, as we prefer, tie them together securely in a reef knot.

Wearing
Loosen the laces at the back as fully as you can, then wrap the corset around you fastening the front busk from top to bottom. Then you can begin to tighten the laces at the back using the long loops, tightening from top to middle then bottom to middle.

Taking off your corset
Never attempt to remove your corset without loosening the laces first as this may cause damage to the steel front busk. Loosen the corset as much as you can then it will be easy to undo the front busk. Breath a sigh and know that all evening you looked fantastic in your new corset and were certainly the centre of attention.

P.S. I find that assisting my partner by placing my hands on my waist and pushing myself inwards helps when both putting on and taking off the corset.
